Data Collection

The first step of any data project is to get your data together. Does that sound like an insurmountable task? IMA’s got your back.

We can help with:

  • MRO items never entered into a system

  • Physical data

  • Electronic data stored in SAP or other common ERP or CMMS systems

  • Electronic data stored in custom systems

Onsite data capture

On Site Data Capture

Capturing all of your data that isn’t currently stored electronically or verifying that what exists is in the system can be a big task that requires resources you can’t spare internally. Let IMA help instead!

IMA can assign a dedicated team to identify, record, and transmit detailed part information for your storerooms. That way, you can get a full, up-to-date list of what Material Master items actually exist.

As part of the on-site capture process, we help:

  • Identify and remove obsolete parts

  • Record all available part information (manufacturer name, part number, description, bin number/location, item number/ID, other desired information)

  • Identify quantity on-hand

  • Consolidate product commodity

  • Add barcodes or shelf labels

This process is customizable and we adapt to meet exactly what your needs are. Only need certain sites done? No problem. Want to include additional information on capture? We can do it. And if you’re not sure what you need, IMA can help guide the way.

Digital Data Extraction

If your data (or some of it) is already in an ERP, CMMS, or otherwise digitized, IMA Data Specialists can work with that too. Simply gather your MRO data from all of your systems and we can start the process of uniting your Material Master. To make the process a little easier, we’ll give you an RFI (request for information) to guide the data extraction process.

As soon as your data file is in our hands, we’ll get the cleansing process going! That starts with us putting the extracted data file you provide into our tool, uManage Pro for analysis. With your data in hand, we can help you get a sense of the scope of the project and work together to identify your goals and how we can make them a reality.

Data collection benefits

Benefits

Data collection may be one piece of the larger data cleansing and governance processes, but it also offers great value to your organization on its own. Here are some of the benefits you can expect to see once your data is all captured in one system.

Increased efficiency

  • Search for, identify, and locate parts faster and more efficiently.

  • Increase maintenance productivity with less time spent searching different systems for searching manually.

Easier management

  • Reliably know on-hand quantities.

  • Avoid false stock-outs by having a complete item master available in one location.

Right-size your inventory

  • Identify excess and obsolete inventory so you can clear up space and even bring in revenue from your disposal methods.

  • Manage assets efficiently and reduce inventory.
